Kunri area of Awaran district was the epicentre of the quake. At least four aftershocks of 5.6 magnitude were felt in most areas. Thousands of houses collapsed or were badly damaged in towns and villages of Awaran. he medical and social-sector infrastructure of Balochistan was deficient before this, and will have been locally degraded to the point of extinction in the worst affected areas

Zalzala Jazeera The earthquake was apparently powerful enough to raise a small island, later dubbed Zalzala Jazeera, meaning "quake island", in theArabian Sea, variously reported as being 350 metres (1,150 ft) to 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) off the shore of Gwadar. The island is partially composed of rocks, but mostly consists of mud and sand. The oval-shaped island is 60 feet (18 m) high, 100 feet (30 m) long, and 250 feet (76 m) wide according to a Pakistani Navy team which visited the island the day after it appeared.[23] The island is believed to be the result of a mud volcano. Because of its composition of softer sediments, the sea will erode the island completely within a few months
