Teacher CLCH Chinese Lutheran Church of Honolulu Grades 8,9,10 2 Hours/Week Teacher at the sunday school at the Chinese Lutheran Church of Honolulu. I went through training and was selected to be a youth teacher teaching the bible to young children in both Chinese and English. Teachers have to be bilingual or dominant in Chinese. Volunteer at Family Literacy Center Kuhio Park Terrace Family Literacy Center Hawaii Grades 10,11 2 Hours/Week Total Hours: 25 I volunteered at the Family Literacy Center reading with young underprivileged children to help phonetic and reading comprehension skills. The director has seen growth in one child who loves reading with me and I continue to be passionate about helping the children.

Extracurricular Activities

Coaching Assistant Grade 10 Total Hours: 10 I helped young girls and boys with volleyball technique at a volleyball clinic in the summer of 2013. Everyday, I would volunteer time to help them correct their technique and improve their skill. Youth Group Small Group Leader Grades 10,11 I am a youth group leader in my church. I organize activities and organize events. I also lead and guide members into a deeper understanding of the bible. The youth group leaders are appointed by the pastor and advisors. Carnival Boothchair Grade 11 I was selected to be the carnival boothchair of prize exchange for the Punahou Carnival which is the largest fundraising event on the island. The booth is student run and I take a leadership role in selecting the prizes, working long hours during the carnival, as well as taking care of the booth and making sure it's in order. I have played violin since age 9 and taken private lessons since then. I have played in one recital and many other concerts and continue to play violin. Violin in School Orchestra Grades 6,7,8,9,10,11,12 Started in 5th grade with orchestra, advanced to the most advanced and specially selected Punahou Symphony. I am currently the Violin 2 section principal which I auditioned for and was selected to lead the orchestral section. Entering the Punahou Symphony requires an audition of two very difficult pieces as well as a good grade in the previous orchestra. Play in concerts Grades 9,10,11 I have voluntarily played violin in the orchestra in different concerts such as our school and outside of school. I have been asked to play at public Christmas concerts and at the summer Pops concert for the LDS church that asks musicians to volunteer their time to play. In freshman year, I also played at the choir concert that consisted of a selected 8 musicians. Tutor Mandarin Chinese 2 Honors (2 people) and 3 Honors Grade 9 2 Hrs/Week I tutored two Chinese 2 Honors students and one Chinese 3 Honors students while simultaneously taking Chinese 3 Honors. This was based off a volunteer basis which I didn't get paid for but my teacher volunteered me to tutor these three students. I helped them with grammar, vocabulary, listening comprehension, and oral fluency. Tutor Geometry and Algebra 1 Grade 10 1 Hrs/Week I tutored one student in Geometry for thirty minutes every cycle in a semester and then another student in Algebra one for one cycle an entire semester. This isn't a paid tutoring and we often apply for this position based off our math knowledge. Photography Grades 9,10,11 I am very passionate about art and visual imagery like photography. I take pictures at formal events and sometimes get paid for it. I'm not very into the photography business like I am not a formal photographer but I enjoy it and I take pictures for free. I also enjoy editing photos. Yearbook Photography Grades 9,10,11 I participate as a staffer in the yearbook taking pictures for the yearbook. I have to go to outside school events such as sport games as well as into classrooms and capture the learning experience at Punahou. It requires a lot of time and the pictures are then screened by the editors at the yearbook. My pictures have been used in the yearbook. Beach Volleyball Grades 10,11 I play sand volleyball doubles as well as 4v4. I don't play it regularly like club volleyball but I do enter in tournaments with a partner. My first time playing doubles I got second place in the tournament and at the national qualifier tournament, we got first place and qualified for the national competition in Hermosa Beach but didn't go due to conflicting plans. I continue to play beach volleyball and will be playing in the Nov 22-24 state sand competition and if we

advance, will be on OC16 on the 24th. School Volleyball Grades 8,9,10,11 11 Hrs/Week I've been playing school volleyball since the Intermediate level both seventh and eighth grade, to the JV level in ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade. I was team captain this past season for the JV team. I've been on a winning team in 2012 that won the ILH championships and this past season we ended up second in the ILH. Club Volleyball Grades 6,7,8,9,10,11,12 8 Hrs/Week I've been playing volleyball since I was 8 years old starting from a community league and then playing at a high intensity club level. I've played at many national venues as well as qualifiers on the mainland. I've been team captain several times. Our team has landed in the top 10 at the 2012 AAU Girls National Volleyball Championships in the 14's division and first place at the 2013 Girls Junior National Volleyball Championships 15's patriot division. I played middle blocker, setter, outside hitter, opposite, and libero/defensive specialist but I currently play libero/defensive specialist. I play at Ka Ulukoa that is extremely selective with their players and holds a winning reputation with the 7th consecutive win at the 2013 Boys Junior National Volleyball Championships. Center for Tomorrow's Leaders Grade 11 I am very involved with this extremely selective program. People have to write three essays as well as have a letter of recommendation from the parents and two outside resources. Then 50 applicants are selected from a pool of nearly 200 people and put into a room where 16 will discuss at a time about a contemporary issue and craft solutions. Simultaneously, there is a private interview with the coaches. Being the select 20 out of 50, we then come together in a group to be innovative leaders and uplift the society. The group meets 2.5 hours every week as well as three entire days over the breaks. We plan on creating a non-profit project for the underprivileged children in the Kalihi area to help them strive for excellence.

Honors Chemistry Recognition Grade 10 Received the Honors Chemistry Recognition award which was given to the top percentile of students in the Honors Chemistry program in 2012-2013.

Athletic Achievement

Aloha Region Beach Volleyball Doubles Qualifiers 2013 Gold Medal Grade 10 Won the gold medal at the Aloha Region Beach Volleyball 16's Doubles National Qualifiers in 2013. Qualified to go play at a national venue in Hermosa Beach, California. 2013 Girls Junior Nationals Volleyball Championships Gold Medal Grade 11 Played at the 2013 GJNVC in Dallas, Texas in the 15's patriot division and won the gold medal. I stepped up as an outside hitter in the second set of the championship match after losing the first while benched even though I've played defensive specialist and was listed as a 5'2" DS/LIB and got commentator recognition.
