CATHEDRAL OF AREQUIPA
The most beautiful building in my city is the "cathedral of Arequipa" it is in the centre of Arequipa, in the square of arms. The Cathedral of Arequipa is considered as one of the first religious monuments of the siglo XVII in the city. Then of founded La Villa Hermosa de Arequipa, on August 15 of 1540, was provisionally built a parish church today is the Cathedral which was built on the foundations of the old church, which was completed in 1656 and destroyed by fire in 1844. Its facade is made up of seventy columns, three covers and two lateral arches, it is armed by two tall towers and Renaissance. Inside, the main altar is made of marble and made by Philip Maratillom in the center is the unique wooden pulpit made by the artist Buisine Rigot. In 1844 it was destroyed by fire and rebuilt in 1868 by the Arequipa architect Lucas Poblete. It is neoclassical and income to the temple is located on the sides, It was hard hit by the earthquake of 2001, which seriously affected its towers.
