Mr. Jeffersons 8th Grade Computer Assignments Rules: Treat the computer with respect.

Only two turns on the computer daily. Internet Uses: Absolutely no cyber-bullying. Bullying of any form is very hurtful. Our school system has a zero tolerance for bullying. Do not access websites that are not related to school. This includes, but is not limited to, E-mail, chat rooms, social networking, pornography, etc. Never put personal information on the Internet. Your address, phone number, social security number, and even e-mail are not to seen by strangers eyes. Do not download anything off the Internet without the consent of the teacher first. Viruses get spread that way. Do not change the Internet setting. For example, do not change the homepage, delete the history, or customize the tool bar. Use your flash drive to save. Punishment for Breaking the Rules: First time offense: A warning and loss of the 30-minute time you were allotted. Second time offense: Loss of computer privilege for one week Third time offense: Parents and/or principal will be notified. Discipline options will then be discussed. *Note participation points will be deducted for any offense. Plagiarism Plagiarism is the practice of taking someone elses work or ideas and passing them off as your own. Plagiarism is not limited to copying and pasting. Switching words around or just simply using someones idea are potential forms of plagiarism. Plagiarism is unlawful, immoral, and unacceptable in this class. Plagiarized work will receive a zero on the assignment and the principal and/or parents will be notified. Copyright Copyright is the exclusive legal right of to reproduce, sell, publish, or distribute the matter and form of something, such as literary, musical, or artistic work. Copyright infringement is against the law and a serious offense. If copyright infringement of any kind happens in my classroom, law officials will be notified immediately. Acceptable Copyright and Fair use There are actual forms of acceptable copyright. Even without the owners consent, you may make limited use of another authors work, mainly for commentary or critical purposes. You may use copyright material for the use of criticism and comment, research, news reporting, nonprofit educational uses, or parody. If you are unsure, you can always ask me or another teacher.
