The CBSO is resident at Birmingham's Symphony Hall, one of the finest halls in the world. With Music Director Andris Nelsons, the CBSO is in demand globally, acting as ambassador for the city in venues and festivals internationally. Our recordings win international prizes. We support and sustain an unparalleled diversity of world-class music making in Birmingham and beyond including our own chamber music series at our rehearsal and concert hall, the CBSO Centre. Our acclaimed family of choruses, youth ensembles and education programme reaches more than 55,000 people each year.

PRINCIPAL SECOND TRUMPET


The Principal Second Trumpet will play mostly second trumpet and other parts as required by orchestration and within the terms of the CBSO/MU contract. The CBSO section plays on b flat piston valved trumpets and occasionally trumpets in other keys, cornets and rotary valved trumpets as required. Playing natural trumpet is desirable but not required. The basic annual salary for Principal Second Trumpet is 35,086 plus Long Service payments. Standard Contract The CBSO operates to an independent contract agreed between the CBSO and the Musicians Union. The CBSO schedules up to 228 working days per season and bases its working week on twenty-five playing hours within a forty hour week. There are thirty-five days paid orchestral holiday plus six days of flexible personal holiday in addition to Public Holidays and a minimum of ninety-four free days per annum. The current work commitment for Principal Second Trumpet is 200 days within each contract year.
