Music Performance Units

Performing Music on One Instrument ( Intermediate 1) In this unit, pupils will develop elementary skills in solo instrumental performance. This unit is suitable for those who already have some basic experience of performing. Pupils are required to produce a performance programme lasting 4 minutes, and containing at least two contrasting pieces. This programme should be recorded live. They should also produce a programme note (around 75 words for one of the pieces performed.

Performing Music on One Instrument (Intermediate 2) In this unit, pupils will develop skills in solo instrumental performance beyond an elementary level. This unit is suitable for those who already have quite considerable elementary experience of performing. Pupils are required to produce a performance programme lasting 4 minutes, and containing at least two contrasting pieces. This programme should be recorded live. They should also produce a programme note (around 100 words for one of the pieces performed.

Performing Music on One Instrument (Higher) In this unit, pupils will develop relatively complex skills in solo instrumental performance. This unit is suitable for those who already have considerable experience of performing. Pupils are required to produce a performance programme lasting 10 minutes, and containing at least two contrasting pieces. This programme should be recorded live. They should also produce a programme note (around 150 words for one of the pieces performed.

Performing Music on One Instrument ( d!anced Higher) In this unit, pupils will develop skills in solo instrumental performance to an advanced level. This unit is suitable for those who already have substantial experience of performing. Pupils are required to produce a performance programme lasting 15 minutes, and containing at least two contrasting pieces. This programme is recorded live. They should also produce a programme note (around 200 words for one of the pieces performed.
