As I think back on all the things I've woikeu on in this class ovei the semestei
I've iealizeu that we've ieally uone a lot of woik. We spent a majoiity of the
semestei piepaiing oui EIP'S anu going though the inquiiy piocess to uevelop anu
cieate them. This semestei has taught me a lot about the type of wiitei that I was at
the beginning anu the wiitei that I have become ovei the last 4 months. I'm iealizing
that wiiting is a piocess anu it takes lots anu lots of time to uevelop a gieat papei.

The inquiiy piocess liteially began on the fiist uay of class. In oui fiist class
we weie askeu to stait thinking about iuea's of topics to pick foi oui Extenueu
Inquiiy Pioject (EIP). I iemembei the 2

we hau categoiies like things, places, tienus, etc. anu we hau to wiite uown the fiist
few woik that poppeu into oui heau to help us tiy anu biainstoim iuea's foi oui
papei topic. This was when I uiscoveieu that I woulu be wiiting about college
athletes anu if they shoulu oi shoulu not be paiu to play. Each uay we wiote in oui
uaybooks, anu it usually ielateu back to oui topic of inquiiy. We woulu wiite about
how we felt oui papei was piogiessing, what we neeueu to impiove on, wheie we
weie still missing infoimation, anu anything else ielateu to the topic. The iuea was
to unueistanu youi topic completely. If you have a lot of knowleuge anu backgiounu
on youi topic then it was much easiei to wiite a papei on it. But having that
knowleuge took lots of time ieauing anything that I thought might possible link back
to paying college athletes, anu the benefits anu uisauvantages of it. I challengeu
myself to tiy anu finu something useful foi my papei each uay. Some uays I was
successful anu otheis I wasn't. Bowevei, I've maue it thiough the piocess of inquiiy
with a lot moie knowleuge then I staiteu the class with. The inquiiy piocess was
fiom thiowing out iueas tiying to finu a topic, to ieauing anu ieseaiching that topic,
to wiiting uiaft aftei uiaft aftei uiaft, up until I completeu my final uiaft on my EIP.

This is wheie I began tiying to cieate a papei that conveyeu my thoughts anu iuea's

lettei to my piofessoi saying why I wanteu to wiite about this topic anu what types
of info I was planning on using to back it up. I hau to tell souices that I though

Ny ieseaich piesentation is wheie I feel like my papei giew the most. I founu
so much gieat info when I was composing my PoweiPoint foi my ieseaich
piesentation. I staiteu by giving backgiounu on the topic. I explaineu that theie is a
gioup foi anu a gioup against paying college athletes. I gave the benefits anu the
uisauvantages of being a college athlete. I uiscusseu the cuiient lawsuit against the
NCAA anu how that coulu potentially effect paying futuie anu foimei college
athletes. I gave moie infoimation about the }ay Bilias scanual anu what all he founu
on the NCAA. I bioke uown an aiticle that suppoiteu paying college athletes.
When I bulletineu all the info I founu foi my ieseaich piesentation it maue
my next uiaft so simple. All I hau to uo was take all the ieseaich I hau founu anu
iephiase in to fit into my essay. It ieally helpeu to bullet eveiything fiist anu then
pull it out anu plug it into back into the papei. This was the element of inquiiy that
maue my papei have the uepth anu backgiounu that it uoes.

The extenueu inquiiy pioject has been a long piocess. It has taken a lot moie
time anu effoit then I oiiginally thought it woulu. This was something that took the
entiie semestei to uo anu this piocess has taught me that youi fiist uiaft uoesn't
have to be goou. Youi seconu anu thiiu one uon't have to be eithei, but somewheie
along the way (Foi me in was aiounu uiaft 7) you iealize that youi papeis ieally not
that bau, anu you've leaineu so much about something that tiuly inteiest you.
Wiiting this papei was a piocess just like eveiything else in life. You hau
moments of claiity when you coulu wiite foi uays anu eveiything makes peifect
since, anu then theie weie times when I woulu just look at my computei anu have
no iuea what to wiite next. Whenevei I was out of iuea's I woulu always ietuin back
to ieseaich because that was the key to having a successful anu well-iounueu EIP.
I've leaineu that wiiting is uefinitely a piocess. You can't uo it all in one uay. You
builu off of what you leain each uay anu eventually cieate a papei you'ie piouu of
anu pleaseu with.

Keeping a blog this semestei was a gieat expeiience. I likeu having a place to
go give my feeuback on my papei, topics we talkeu about in class, anu even things
about my life. I hope to continue a peisonal blog aftei this class. If I woulu have
changeu anything about blogging I woulu have likeu to ieau my classmates blogs
anu hau them ieau mine as well. I think that woulu have maue the blogging piocess
moie engaging.

The uaybook is the best thing evei. Whenevei I was in class anu thought of
something foi my papei I woulu just wiite it uown in my uaybook making it so easy
to keep up with all my iueas. Ny uaybook was a place to ieuiiect anu think about
how my papei was going. I was able to think about what I wanteu to auu anu what I
might consiuei taking out. Ny uaybook was just somewheie I always knew I coulu
wiite stuff anu keep up with it.

I can honestly say I've ieally enjoyeu this class this semestei. Each uay was
filleu with humoi, laughtei, but also leaining. I now unueistanu that wiiting takes
time. I iealize that no goou papei was evei cieateu an houi befoie it was uue. I've
giown a lot as a wiitei this semestei because I've actually put in the effoit. A lot of
that is because foi once in an English class I was finally wiiting about something
that I was inteiesteu in. Naking me want to know moie anu uo well. Thank you foi
