JOHN WILLIAMS

BRIEF HISTORY

John Towner Williams, Jr. was born on February 8, 1932 in Queens, New York, the son of Esther and Johnny Williams.
His father was a jazz percussionist who played with the Raymond Scott Quintet. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles. Studied privately with the Italian composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco

Williams was drafted into the U.S. Air Force, where he conducted and arranged music for The U.S. Air Force Band.
After the Air Force he attended The Juilliard School, where he studied piano with Rosina Lhvinne. After his studies at Juilliard, and the Eastman School of Music, Williams returned to Los Angeles, where he began working as an orchestrator at film studios.

Basically John Williams is the father of modern music in movies he has composed over 2555 compositions both for the big screen, television and also has concertos, fugue, chamber, ensemble. Works as well.
Williams has won 5 Academy Awards, 4 Golden Globe Awards, 7 British Academy Film Awards and 21 Grammy Awards. With 48 Academy Award nominations, Williams is the second most-nominated person, after Walt Disney.
