The internet can be one of the best resources for education. We are connected all over the world and can interact with other students from different continents. We have access to in-depth knowledge which can facilitate learning in our children. However, we must consider the dangers of the internet. Online predators Viruses Malicious software

Safety Starts with You!


Parents, you are the first line of defense in safeguarding the connection for your family. Know the risks and ways to protect your connection and computer. Always, back up your files in case you have to reset your computer to manufacturer settings. Look for programs that help remove and protect your computer. Kidshealth.org stated, Get involved in your kids online activity, by using parental controls and having your computer in a common area in the house, teach your kids appropriate online behavior, and bookmark their favorite websites. Ensure your children know how to cite sources, and know copyright laws.

Supervision is advised when kids use the internet.

Even though the internet has many dangers, especially for children, according to netsmartz.org we can protect ourselves and kids by recognizing the warning signs and safeguarding our computer and network . Arming ourselves with information and strategies will ensure safety for everyone. In the end, internet safety starts with you!

This Weeks Assignments


The children will be required to complete an indepth safety and copyright report on the internet that will be due next Monday morning. We will also work on safety and copyright worksheets to help further their comprehension on internet safety. A special guest from the police department will also lead a presentation about technology safety and how to protect themselves from potential dangers.

In the Classroom
The students will learn about the history of the computer and internet. We will discuss the importance of the internet and how to safely navigate the internet. The students will learn appropriate computer and internet behavior. Students will also learn about copyright laws. The students will be given handouts (for parents) with important information and websites that can further help you safeguard your computers at home.

Internet Safety and Copyright Workshop for Parents


Thursday, October 18, 6:00 P.M. This workshop will be for parents who want more information about safeguarding their computers, internet, and knowing copyright laws. This workshop will be one hour long and daycare will be provided in the library.
