December 2, 2012 TO: FROM: All Staff Joseph P. Pennachetti, City Manager

SUBJECT: Holiday Season Gifts As we enter the holiday season I want to remind each of you of the City's Conflict of Interest Policy. This policy outlines that City of Toronto staff may not accept gifts, money, discounts or favours (including a benefit to family members, friends or business associates) for doing work that the City pays them to do; nor can they use City funds to pay for or to subsidize social functions. You can read the full policy here: http://wi.toronto.ca/intra/hr/policies.nsf/9fff29b7237299b385256729004b844b/429ad1b158a 6de7c8525693b004bdc49?OpenDocument The exception is that employees may accept gifts that are of a nominal value, for example, a coffee mug or a letter opener with the company's logo. Please ask your manager or supervisor if you have questions about whether you should accept or return gifts you may receive. Thank you. (original signed by) Joseph P. Pennachetti
