Unit 3: Land Use Postcards During this unit, you will create various postcards detailing areas that

you have visited. You will be creating some after your travels to Mexico City and some after your travels to the Amazon. In each of these postcards, you are going to address them to the following address: Dr. Melton or Mr. Cross (select one) 1359 Torpey Drive Troy, MI 48083 Your job is to provide as much detail as you can on the postcard template provided to explain what you saw and experienced. You will also refer back to the idea of land use. How does the area you visited deal with land use? You will also create a visual picture on the front of the postcard that helps support the information you write. Be creative with the picture! Requirements: Ch. 9 Mexico City (2 postcards) 1. Iztacalco Neighborhood (have nots) 2. Benito Juarez Neighborhood (haves) Ch 12 Land Use in the Amazon (2 postcards) Choose 2 groups of the following Native Amazonians Rubber tappers Loggers Settlers Cattle Ranchers Environmentalists

Each Postcard will be worth 5 points and turned in at different times during the unit. A total of 20 points will be given for all the postcards! Creativity and accuracy of information will be graded!

Dear Dr. Melton, Today we visited Mackinac Island! It was a great trip and we learned a lot about Michigans history and saw a lot of cool things! We were shocked to hear that no cars are allowed on the island! That was different to hear because we use cars all the time! Some of the houses were close together to make use of the land. The ferry ride there and back was really fun too! See you soon! Mr. MacIntosh, Mrs. Herberholz, and Mr. Schmidt
