ExerGaming: Are You Game?

Sabrina Pesa

Abstract
In the United States today, the issue of obesity is more common today than ever in history, affecting not just adults, but children as well. More people are trying to find ways to start making exercise more fun and easy, and to get people off the couch and moving. Such activities include ExerGaming, which involves interactive dance games that involve people to get up and move, and follow along to the instructed dance moves as shown. An experiment including students at the State University of New York at Cortland, was conducted by Dr. Yang, who was curious to see how effective and well liked these forms of exercise were. Students played both Dance Central on the Xbox 360 and iDance for the Wii.

Hypotheses
For this experiment, I believe that the students heart rates will increase when playing Dance Central. Since the students are moving more since their body is the controller, thus causing their heart rates to increase.
