Journal Entry #1
Dear Journal,
Tonight we have to go into hiding and Im getting very scared. I
know that I will just have to calm down and figure out some
valuables that I have to bring with us. First I think that I will bring
my family members, my mom, my dad and my brother. I would also
bring my grandparents and cousins. The second thing that I think that
I am going to bring is the family photo albums so that we will
always have them no matter what happens. Next I will bring non-
perishable food items so that they never go bad. I would also bring a
book and pencils and paper. Also I will bring lots and lots of
bottles of water. I would also bring a radio in case we have to
contact anyone. Clothes would definitely be one of the next things that
I would bring. These are just some of the things that I would bring.
All that we can do now is hope that everything will turn out okay in
the end.

I know what I want, I have a goal, an opinion, I have a ieligion anu a love.
I am young anu stiong anu I am living a gieat auventuie, I am still in the miust of it.
I have been given a lot, a happy natuie, anu a gieat ueal of cheeifulness anu stiength.
It goes on anu on.
It is all so peaceful.

I am happy on the outside. I always make the best of everything and I love to joke around and laugh. I am
trustworthy and dependable. If someone ever tells me a secret I keep that secret forever. I am condent and I always
try to entertain people in any way I can. I am adventurous and I take risks whenever they are thrown in my direction.
I am brave and I show lots of courage. I am athletic and love playing sports and being active. All of these
characteristics make me who I am and I love being the way that I am.In the inside I am the same as I am on the
outside, I am caring and I have the biggest heart. I am generous and very condent. I am not afraid to do what I want
to do. I express my opinion in every way possible. I never hold my feelings in. Im not one of those people who just
holds their feelings in. I let it all out any day, any time any place. It does not matter to me I just gure that theres
no point in holding all those things in, it just makes you more weak. I am not scared. I am brave and daring on the
inside and the outside. I stand up for myself and I am condent. All of these feelings inside and outside shape me into
the condent, daring, kind, athletic, funny, enthusiastic person I am.

Similar and Different
Anne Fiank is similai to teenageis touay because she has some of the same
inteiests that we uo touay. She goes to school, has iomantic feelings foi boys
anu has fiienus. " As soon as a boy asks if he may bicycle home with me anu we
get into conveisation, nine out of ten times I can be suie that he will fall heau
ovei heels in love anu simply wont let me out of his sight." Pg. S. She caies
about hei appeaiance anu always tiies to look hei best. Bei fiienus at school all
enjoyeu hei company anu they all likeu to joke aiounu. These things uon't
make hei exactly like teenageis but they make hei somewhat similai. Anne was
uiffeient to teenageis touay in many uiffeient ways. Fiist off she uoes not have
any fieeuom being tiappeu in the annex. Seconu off she uoesn't have a ieal
fiienu to actually talk to anu thiiu teenageis now uon't have to woiiy about
being founu by the Nazis. "I simply ant imagine that the woilu will evei be
noimal foi us again." Pg. 11S. Touay teenageis aie able to be fiee anu uo what
they want. They uon't have to woiiy about iisking theii life by hiuing in an
annex anu getting sent to a concentiation camp if they weie founu. All they
have to woiiy about is if they look pietty anu appeal to theii boyfiienu, anu
make the finals on theii outstanuing spoits team.
