About the course


Business Studies is an exciting and dynamic subject that reects the ever-changing nature of the business world. You will learn how to become a successful entrepreneur, and will study a wide range of business concepts and theories, from human resources, nance and marketing to business strategy. All of these concepts will give you a winning edge in the employment market. The AS course aims to introduce you to the principles of business and how to set up a small enterpirse, including protecting ideas, researching the market and employing people. Furthermore, you will look at the issues faced by business owners such as using budgets, managing cash ow and human resource management. The A2 course aims to build upon this understanding, by focusing on the strategic management of larger organisations and exploring how businesses manage change.

How will I be assessed?


All AS and A2 units are assessed by external examination, in the summer term.

AS: Unit 1 - Planning and Financing a Business Unit 2 - Managing a Business A2: Unit 3 - Strategies for Success Unit 4 - The Business Environment and Change C in GCSE English.

To be successful on this course you need to have a genuine interest in the business world and an innovative approach to business matters. The course is of use to anyone who is considering a career in any of the commercial business specialisms such as nance, sales and marketing, human resources and management.
