If you have a general or specic interest in media, and want to explore how the media constructs and represents the world to its audience, then this is the course for you. You will explore a wide range of contemporary issues and debates across different media platforms. This course will combine your theoretical knowledge with creative and technical skills to create a range of media products. The AS course aims to introduce you to the specics of media study and you will investigate the various different areas of media, as well as designing and creating your own media products such as lm trailers, websites and magazine articles. The A2 will build on the skills acquired at AS Level, alongside introducing critical perspectives surrounding the different areas of media. You will carry out your own independent research into a topic of your choice as well as produce related media products.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment at AS Level Unit 1 is assessed by external examination, in the summer term. Unit 2 is assessed by coursework which is internally marked and externally moderated. Both units are worth 50% of your AS grade. Assessment at A2 Level Unit 3 is assessed by external examination, in the summer term. Unit 2 is assessed by coursework which is internally marked and externally moderated. Both units are equally weighted.
