Installing XAMPP on Windows

1. Right-click on the le named index.html, and choose Open with Firefox to open this le in the Firefox web browser. 2. Read the instructions given. 3. You will see three levels in the left hand-side panel Level1, Level2 and Level3. 4. Please click on Level1. 5. In this level, there are several tutorials. 6. Locate the topic Installing on Windows. This tutorial is about the XAMPP Installation on Windows. 7. Click on it. 8. You will see the video in the centre. 9. Click on the play button on the player to play the tutorial.

10. To view the tutorial in a bigger player, right-click on the video and choose View Video option. 11. Adjust the size of the player in such a way that you are able to practice in parallel. 12. Please listen to this tutorial and follow all the instructions carefully. 13. From 1:19 min to 1:28 min the tutorial shows how to download XAMPP. 14. We have already provided the installation les in the install folder in this disc. 15. Please open the install folder and then open the subfolder windows. 16. Double click on le xampp-win32-1.7.4-VC6-installer.exe 17. Now you can start following the video from 1:34 min onwards. 18. At 6:34 min pause the video. Here it talks about the ConTEXT text editor. 19. ConTEXT editor is used throughout the series in all the videos, so please install it. 20. The installation le is available in the windows folder within install folder, with lename X-ConTEXT 0.98.6 rev1.exe 21. After installing XAMPP and ConTEXT text editor, open a new tab in the Firefox webbrowser by pressing Ctrl-t or open a new web-browser. 22. Type the URL http://localhost/phpacademy/ in your address bar. 23. Now you will be able to run all your .php and .html les using this URL. 24. Please note that the path of phpacademy folder shown in the video is c:\xampp\htdocs\phpacademy 25. This is your working directory. 26. Henceforth, for all the videos, the .php and/or .html les should be created/copied in this directory. 27. You are free to create subdirectories here for each video tutorial so that you can manage all your les in a better way. 28. Now resume the tutorial. 29. Follow the instructions and install XAMPP as shown in tutorial.
