Baggage Advisory

This advisory was developed by the Peace Corps Transportation and Staging offices and Sato Travel to minimize baggage-related problems during domestic and international travel.

GUIDELINES:
Checked baggage should not exceed 100 pounds total with a maximum weight allowance of 50 pounds for any one bag. The combined linear dimensions (length + width + height) of all your checked baggage may not exceed 107. The larger piece of checked baggage may not exceed 62. Your carry-on baggage may not exceed a total linear measurement of 45. Each trainee is allowed to carry on one bag and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase. All carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat. Size and weight restrictions vary by airline. Overweight or oversize charges will be your responsibility. This applies to both checked and carry-on luggage. Questions about baggage size and weight limits should be directed to the particular airlines on which you will be traveling.

IMPORTANT:
Peace Corps does not have a special agreement with airline carriers, so check with your airline carrier to determine their specific baggage limits. If you exceed an airlines baggage limits, you may be assessed a fee. However, if your luggage conforms to the parameters stated above, Peace Corps will reimburse you for fees incurred for which you have a valid receipt. The Peace Corps recommends that you do not bring more than you can carry. You will be responsible for handling your luggage en route to post and overseas.
