Description
The SS5067 quartz pressure tool uses industry proven quartz
transducer technology to provide superior data quality and
stability. Through the use of the hybridized internal electronics,
inconel or monel pressure housings and a metal to metal CRing seal configuration, the SS5067 is designed to operate for
extended periods in standard or sour environments at high
temperatures reaching a maximum of 177C and pressure
ranges reaching in excess of 25,000 psi. These features make
it ideal for jobs where data quality and data capture is
paramount in environments and applications that exceed the
limits of standard piezoresistive sensors.

and inconel pressure housings, the SS5063 is designed to
operate for extended periods in standard or sour environments,
temperatures reaching a maximum of 177C, pressure ranges
reaching in excess of 16,000 psi and where potential
restrictions or deployment methods require a gauge with a
smaller diameter but where data quality and stability cannot be
compromised. These features make the SS5063 ideal for jobs
where data quality and data capture is paramount in
environments and applications that exceed the limits of
standard piezoresistive sensors.

The SS5067 and SS5200 use similar battery housings between
the models. These parts are available in diameters of 1.27 or
1.3125 and various lengths depending on the duration of the
job, maximum pressure expected downhole as well as the
environment in the wellbore. They are used are used to house
the batteries required to run the SS5067 and SS5200 in
memory mode. They are machined with tolerances and internal
dimensions to ensure that the battery pack is protected and has
no space to disconnect from the gauge during the installation
and survey process. This, along with the locking battery pack
connector, ensures that all possible precautions are taken to
ensure a successful run is made and all required data is
retrieved.

The 1.4375 Quartz SRO Assembly allows the SS5067, SS5200 and
SS5063 models to run in a downhole surface acquisition mode that
transmits data real time on a 7/32 electronic slickline or braided line
using a standard 1.4375 GO Cablehead. The SRO Assembly is run in
place of a standard battery housing configuration on a single gauge.
The single gauge is then run downhole and is able to transmit its data to
surface. The SRO Assembly consists of an industry standard GO
Cablehead which is then crossed over to the standard 7 pin Spartek
Quartz gauge connector. A series of inner assembly springs along with
a Spartek Quartz model specific adapter ensures that that connection
maintains its integrity as the gauge is deployed providing all possible
precautions to ensure a successful run is made and all required data is
successfully transmitted to surface.

The Quartz Bombwell carriers are designed to work with the SS5067 and
SS5063 model quartz gauges. The gauges are housed within the
bombwell with cushioning springs on the top and bottom of the gauges.
These springs provide a cushion to protect the gauges from vibrations
and/or tubing movement, care should be taken to ensure the springs are
not bottomed out on the gauges in order to provide the proper protection.
The Bombwells also provide a protective cover for the gauges against
harmful wellbore conditions; care should be taken to ensure that a proper
inhibitor agent is used inside the bombwell if the gauges are being run in a
harsh or sour environment.

remain downhole and is the part that is latched onto when pulling the tool
string after the survey is complete.
Operation
Install the J Latch Running Head into the J Latch Running Tool (see
page 21) and lower into the wellbore to desired depth. Set down gently on
top of a pre run no-go, the toolstring weight will actuate the J Latch
Running Tool and J off of the J Latch Running Head. Remove the
toolstring from the wellbore

Description
The Tool String No-Blow Hold Downs are used to prevent a tool string
(including Spartek Gauges) from flowing up a well during any testing
programs being performed.
Operation
The No-Blow Hold Down Tool is commonly run in conjunction with a J
Latch Running Head. Attach the No-Blow Hold Down Tool as well as any
accessories to the toolstring and lower carefully into the wellbore to desired
depth, set down on pre ran no-go and J off using a J Latch Running tool.
The action of the setting the tools string will actuate the dogs through two
180 degree slots on the lower end of the tool. The when the spring applies
moderate tension on the push rod the dogs are rotated out and the serrated
jaws come to rest on the I.D of the tubing wall. The toolstring is then
removed from the wellbore.

The following basic guidelines when selecting which elastomers to apply for dressing the
equipment for field use:
Standard Service (Sweet):
Default option for standard service (sweet) tools
Temperature Rating: <150C
H2S Concentration:
o <5% below 150C
O-Ring: Viton
Backup: PEEK-Split
Sour Service (Medium Concentration):
Default option for sour service tools
Temperature Rating: 5C - 218C
H2S Concentration:
o Below 150C: <20%
o Above 150C: <7%
C-Ring (if applicable): OD = 1.27, Inconel 718 NACE, Nickel Plated, External
Pressure
O-Ring: Aflas
Backup: PEEK - Split
Sour Service (High Concentration):
Temperature Rating: -20C - 250C
H2S Concentration:
o Below 150C: >20%
o Above 150C: >7%
C-Ring (if applicable): OD = 1.27, Inconel 718 NACE, Nickel Plated, External
Pressure
O-Ring: Chemraz
Backup: PEEK - Split
NOTE:
*Explosive Decompression (ED): All compounds listed here are ED resistant which
occurs when diffused gases (such as carbon dioxide [CO2]) are rapidly decompressed
which causes internal ruptures and blistering of the elastomer.

Description
Once the criteria for which elastomer selection is suitable for the application, there are three
groupings for elastomers; 1) Initial Dressings these are the elastomers that will be used to
dress the tool, and in some cases its accessories, initially when it leaves the Spartek facility. 2)
Redress Kits these kits are used to redress a single field joint once the tool has been run
downhole. 3) Bulk/Individual o-rings which can be purchased to stock a lab or gauge preparation
area the client may have in their location.

Description
The Spartek SS5067 & SS5200 incorporate a metal to metal seal on all field joints in order to
prevent gas migration into the tool during downhole surveys. As a result the use of a torque
wrench and crowfoot is required to make this seal properly in the field. Spartek has specified the
following torque wrench and crowfoot to achieve the proper seal; this torque wrench must be
used on every instance in which a tool is redressed to be run in the field.

Lithium battery packs used with the Spartek Systems line of Sub Surface Quartz Pressure
Gauges. The SS5067 and SS5200 gauges utilize a C cell style pack in various configurations
depending on the duration and operating downhole temperature of the job while the SS5063
utilizes an AA cell style pack in various configurations to achieve the same result depending on
duration and downhole operating temperature. The 200C battery also requires that they are
conditioned prior to running in hole; Spartek has a Depassivation Box that enables the client to condition
the batteries on location.
