INTERVIEW PROCEDURES AND FOCUS

One-on-one when students were not in classroom. Questions about physical layout/climate. Questions about classroom management.

STRIKING POINTS AND IDEAS

RESEARCH POINTS
Your classrooms lighting and temperature will affect student achievement (Classroom Environment: the Basics). Weve got to get rid of the things we dont need to make room for the things that we do (Environment, Environment, Environment, pg. 27). Almost everywhere I look I see evidence of rigorous, joyful learning (Picture Perfect, pg. 10).

RESEARCH POINTS CONTINUED

Physical arrangement can affect the behavior of both students and teachers (Arranging the Physical Environment of the Classroom to Support Teaching/Learning, pg. 1). Space that is not well organized creates problem areas. These include dead spaces that encourage wondering and unruly behavior, and pathways that lead nowhere or interfere with play already in progress (Classroom Design and How it Influences Behavior).
