Wavelet Denoising Approach For Spectrum Estimation In Cognitive Radio

R NithyaKumari, BMS College of Engineering, Bull temple road, Bangalore-19 Abstract :- Cognitive Radio is a transceiver that can intelligently detect which RF communication channels are not in use and instantly moves to that vacant channels while avoiding occupied ones, which means cognitive radio allows unlicensed users to access licensed frequency bands through dynamic spectrum access so as to reduce spectrum scarcity and leads to the efficient use of available radio frequency spectrum while minimizing interference to other users. In cognitive radio systems, secondary users should determine correctly whether the primary user is absent or not in a certain spectrum. Spectrum Estimation is one of the challenging and primary task in cognitive radio, to detect the user's presence. Many signal detection techniques can be used in spectrum estimation so as to enhance the detection probability. In our paper we propose a method for noise reduction in the received signal by retaining the actual information content of the signal, which can be achieved through various wavelet denoising algorithm and the evaluation of performance of these methods are coded using Mat lab.
