-nd there hasnt +een any thought to what all the new spending will mean to hardwor!ing Iowans down the line" %han!s to the spend now, pay later politics we(e witnessed o(er the past few years in Des )oines, last year we

were faced with nearly a #I55I1; dollar deficit" ,o, what did the 9eneral -ssem+ly do. Instead of cutting wasteful spending from the +udget, the 9eneral -ssem+ly used so-called stimulus money from the federal go(ernment to +alance the +udget" #ut what happens when that money is no longer a(aila+le. %he 9eneral -ssem+ly will find itself with two options" Decrease spending to +alance the +udget -- or stic! you and me with a massi(e tax hi!e7 -nd, since they(e already raised the sales tax +y <=00 )I55I1; and pushed for a <2=0 million property tax increase, you and I can get a good idea of what the plan is" >uite fran!ly, thats a scenario I dont want to see unfold" I thin! its time our state legislators start treating us with a little more respect" $ow high do taxes need to +e. $ow much money is enough.
