SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:

Congestion notification and probing mechanism for distributed admission control can be implemented in the network nodes to provide QoS for real time traffic. Endpoint Admission control provides fixed bandwidth to interactive applications. Explicit marking of congestion information provides earlier information to the user before the quality experienced by them is degraded.

differentiates between users of different priority. This architecture can be extended to scenarios with lossy links, for example wireless access networks, where packets loss also occurs due to transmission and link errors other than congestion.

A decentralized approach, avoids scalability problem and additional network traffic due to signaling in centralized admission control. This

architecture can be used to control congestion and prevent packet loss for applications that does not use TCP protocol.

Congestion detection can be performed using a simple probing mechanism without having to extend protocols other than IP. Thus reduces the amount of process and intelligence required in network nodes.
