3. TCP doesnt provide Quality of Service guarantees (Qos) such as minimal bandwidth and delay guarantees.

4. TCP is not ubiquitous, and there are an increasing number of applications that, not uses TCP.

Centralized Router Based Admission and Congestion Control:

IntServ or integrated services is a centralized router based congestion control mechanism that extends traditional best effort model of the internet to guarantee quality of service (QoS) to applications on heterogenous networks. IntServ can for example be used to allow video and sound to reach the receiver without latency. IntServ is implemented in every router on the network and every application that requires some kind of guarantees has to make an individual reservation .

One of the key components of the architecture is a set of service definitions; the current set of services consists of the controlled load and guaranteed services.

Intserv defines the models for expressing service types, quantifying resource requirements and for determining the availability of the requested resources at relevant network elements (admission control). RSVP is a signaling protocol that hosts may use to request resources or specific quality of service from the network for application data streams or flows. RSVP is also used by routers to deliver quality-of-service (QoS) requests to all nodes along the path(s) of the flows and to establish and
