LEADING VS. DRAGGING


Training deals with external skills. Education deals with what a person is on the inside. Education comes from the Latin ducere, means to lead. Training from the Latin trahere, means to drag or to draw.

DISTINCTION BETWEEN TRAINING AND EDUCATION


Training teaches people what to do. Education teaches people what to be.
When circumstances change, training has to be unlearned. Education can be built upon.

Training deals with actions. Education deals with thoughts and feelings.
Training teaches how. Education teaches why. Training can give people competence. Education enables than to put their competence to good use.

Training focuses on procedures. Education focuses on people. Training teaches people to follow prescriptions. Education teaches people to make choices. Training is a program. Education is a process.
