Name: Paul Pearson Date of Participation: January 24, 2014 Participation Site: Valley View High School Guiding Question: What does the first day of class entail for a physics class, and how does block scheduling impact the procedure and students attitudes? Brief description (3-5 bullets) of activity during participation: Block 1 Physical Science class introduced Blocks 2 and 4 of Physics introduced Syllabus covered, behavior expectations, grading, etc. Reflection on Participation Experience: The contrasts in general attitudes between the 9th grade physical science and the 11th and 12th grade physics classes were evident. The body language of the 9th graders showed them to be less attentive and less interested in what the cooperating teacher was explaining. However, the remaining classes at least appeared to be concerned with the expectations of the teacher. The cooperating teacher also emphasized certain protocol differently to the different subjects. The cooperating teachers 18 years of experience was evident in this first day. He understands the general mentality of each class and has adapted his presentation styles as a result.
