Webinar Title: Duties and Responsibilities of Student-Teachers
Date: October 28, 2022 Resource Speaker: Rhoda N. Rosete
Working inside the fieldwork program's legal frameworks (regulations,
procedures, and instructional practices), the student teacher is indeed required to establish professional, respectful relationships with their cooperating teacher, keep an open outlook, exemplify on their teaching practice, be interested in participating in new possibilities for constant improvement and continuous learning, develop self-awareness, and thus become aware of the context they are collaborating in. Since this would serve as my road map and a prepping instrument for me as I indulge myself in an actual classroom setting during my practicum days, the content of the seventh webinar was just for me is among the most pivotal series I've had. Lark Video conferencing was employed to start up this half-day webinar during the day. The Philippine National Anthem and the KCAST Hymn were then played after a momentary prayer to start the webinar. A student from the BSEd Filipino class then made an opening remark, and the resource speaker was therefore introduced. The resource speaker began by describing how agreements between teacher preparation programs and various school districts in the province result in the student teachers being assigned to a specific school placement in a school authority. Once student teachers are assigned to a position, they also consent to follow the policies, practices, and teaching methods of that particular school. It is the duty of the student teachers to familiarize themselves with all documents and guidelines pertaining to the field experience and to establish a working rapport with all students, professionals (including the administration), and members of the broader community that is ethical, respectful, and professional. Correspondingly, Ms. Rosete underscored the four domains that make up the Danielson Framework for Teaching: Domain 1: Planning and Preparation, Domain 2: The Classroom Environment, Domain 3: Instruction, and Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities. Also, the Four Domains of Teaching Responsibility. She also spoke about the teaching load for which student teachers must receive notice, as well as the first week of teaching, the actual teaching, professional obligations, and certain other things. It is completely accurate that the victory of the student teaching placement depends greatly on the strong professional bonds the student teacher forges with the cooperating teacher, the academic supervisor, as well as with school administrators. Likewise, school administrators anticipate student teachers to uphold the standards the institution has for its educators while actively participating in school activities. Lastly, the webinar concluded with impressions from each student from different specialization being shared with the resource speaker, certificates being awarded, and a closing remark.
