Why I should acknowledge the Arts Council of Northern Ireland

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland is the lead development agency for the arts in Northern Ireland, providing support for artists and arts organisations throughout the region, offering a range of funding opportunities. We distribute public money and Lottery funds to organisations and people who develop and deliver arts programmes across all of society. The Arts Council is responsible for how public money is spent. If you have been offered financial support from public funds there will be obligations and conditions that you need to fulfil. One of your obligations is to acknowledge that you have received public money through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland by displaying our logo. The following guidelines govern all aspects of the Arts Council of Northern Irelands visual identity concerning the use of the logo on any material. The Arts Council of Northern Ireland monitors the use of its brand and it is important that the guidelines outlined in the following pages are adhered to. Where any doubt exists, advice should be sought. Thank you for your acknowledgement.

Arts Council Master Brand The Arts Council of Northern Irelands brand identity consists of a logo containing the words Arts Council of Northern Ireland set below a graphic spiral device. The identity has been specially drawn and must not be traced, redrawn or modified in any form by either manual or electronic methods. Colour The Arts Council of Northern Ireland logo is dark blue - Pantone 289cv. If used against a predominantly dark background, the reversed white version can be used as pictured below. In situations where the logo or the reversed white logo is unclear, the logo can be placed within a white rectangle to give it prominence.

Positioning and use of the logo The Arts Council of Northern Irelands logo should be given prominence in all publicity by using the appropriate logo. The logo should be secondary to the identity of the funded organisation or activity but used prominently to reflect the role that the funding plays. If the Arts Council of Northern Ireland is the largest funder the logo must reflect this. Below is an outline of how the logo should be used on each of the different types of published material. Printed Material All printed material produced by Arts Council funded organisations or individuals must carry the Arts Council of Northern Irelands logo. This includes brochures, leaflets, flyers, posters, banners, books, newsletters and all other documentation that may be produced.

Minimum Clear Space The distance between the Arts Council of Northern Irelands logo and other objects and text is known as the clear space. There should always be a clear space surrounding the Arts Council of Northern Irelands logo. This clear space is equal to the height and width of the large a within the logo.

Wherever possible the Arts Council logo should be positioned at the bottom left-hand side of the page, poster or advertisement. On occasion, it may not be possible to include the logo on small printed material such as tickets, small leaflets and small press advertisements. On these occasions the line Supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, can be included as a single line of text positioned at the bottom left-hand side of the material.
