is made from physically disconnected organs. This system lets us respond to our stimulus and maintain homeostasis. In our system, a stimulus is anything that triggers a change in our organisms. These changes can be chemical, cellular, or behavioral. Rate of Communication The endocrine system works like the satellite television system. The satellite sends signals to the televisions with a special receiver. The endocrine system chemical signals are carried throughout the body, and only cells with certain receptors can receive the signals. THE 7 GLANDS There are 7 glands in the endocrine system. They are located different parts of the body, and they are: Hypothalamus-middle of the brain, Pituitary- below the hypothalamus, Thyroid-in the windpipe, Thymus- in the chest, Adrenal- above the kidneys, Pancreas- between the stomach and intestine, and the gonads- located in the pelvis for men and located in the Ovary for females.
