Hyderabad: In accordance with its plan to set up an integrated
steel plant in Bellary with a capacity of over 5 million tonne per annum at a cost of over Rs 9,280 crore, National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) will soon be seeking global expression of interest (EoIs) from those companies which are willing to partner it for offering technology and other domain expertise.
Rana Som, chairman and managing director NMDC, said many
global companies have already expressed interest in the proposed plant. The plant is expected to come up at SEZ to be set up in Bellary, Hospet and Sandur taluk by the Vijayanagar Development Authority. NMDC has sought about 2,500 acre and 16.88 million gallon of water a day from the Almatti dam .
‘‘Though there have been some informal discussions with
domestic and international companies, a formal structure will soon be set in place.
We will soon float a global EoI to rope in partners having domain
expertise,’’ Som said. The criteria for the partners include a sound financial health; expertise in newer technologies or new technologies.
