Annotated Bibliography Kathy Stribling Secondary Sources Ralph, James. "Civil Rights Movements." Civil Rights Movements.

. The Electronic Encyclopedia Of Chicago, 2005. Web. 28 Jan. 2014. <http://www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org/pages/293.html>. I used this source to show the rights that African Americans were fighting for in Chicago during the 1800's and it shows why they wanted those rights so bad. King, Martin L., Jr. "NBC Learn - K12 - Search." NBC Learn - K12 - Search. NBC Universal Media, LLC, 2014. Web. 07 Feb. 2014.This is short speeches and interviews on king about housing in Chicago. Manganelle, Jim. "August 5, 1966 Marquette Park Riots In Chicago." World Press, n.d. Web. This is a short description on the Marquette riot that happened while King was marching. Bricks were thrown at King. A lot hatred in Chicago was exposed on this day. This supports my argument 3 saying that King had the right to expose hatred in Chicago.

Primary Sources Jackson, Jessie. "African American Quotes." Jesse Jackson::African American Quotes. N/A, 2007. Web. 31 Jan. 2014. <http://africanamericanquotes.org/jesse-jackson.html>. I King, Martin L. "Chicago Freedom Movement." Cody Statement. Civic Space, 2005-2010. Web. 30 Jan. 2014. <http://cfm40.middlebury.edu/node/42>. I used this source because this included demands King made to city hall. used this because Jessie Jackson was active alongside Martin Luther King. Moyer, William, and Albert Ranson, Jr. "Bill Moyer: End Slums and Discrimination, 1966." Chicago Freedom Movement. Civic Space, Mar. 1966. Web. 31 Jan. 2014. <http://sites.middlebury.edu/chicagofreedommovement/primary-sources/>. I used this because it was brought to a meeting for King and the SCLC for considering Chicago as a northern campaign after the results of the Chicago real estate testing program. James, Frank. "Martin Luther King Jr. in Chicago." Chicagotribune.com. Chicago Tribune Company, LLC, 2014. Web. 06 Feb. 2014.This supports his time in Chicago. This also talks about how he talked to real estate agents. This shows how he was trying to improve housing. King, Martin L., Jr. "NBC Learn - K12 - My Playlists." NBC Learn - K12 - My Playlists. NBC Universal Media, LLC, 2014. Web. 07 Feb. 2014.This was a video of MLK in Chicago. He talks to the media. He exposes all the hatred in Chicago.

Citizen King, 1963-1968. Dir. Orlando Bagwell. Perf. Martin Luther King Jr. 2006. DVD.This is a video of king time in Chicago and other places. I used this to show him in Chicago and all the Slum and racism there. Wendt, Lloyd. ""Danger in Demonstrations"" The Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change. Stuart List, n.d. Web. 20 Feb. 2014.This talks about the dangers in demonstrations when Martin Luther King came to Chicago. This helps me with my 3rd argument that martin Luther King exposed hatred. "The Archive." The Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change. N.p., n.d. Web. 20 Feb. 2014.This is an anonymous letter to King asking him to leave Chicago. It says things like they don't like him or his brothers and all he does is cause trouble. The "trouble" they are referring to is the riots and many other hate crimes that happened when king was in Chicago. This supports my argument 3 that king exposed hatred in Chicago. Oppeheimer, Martin. "A Manual for Direct Action." The Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change. Bayard Rustin, n.d. Web. 20 Feb. 2014.This tells demonstrators what to do during demonstration in case of riot or police brute force. The fact that they even had to make this poster shows how much hatred towards blacks and King their must be to the point that they have to warn people and tell them the actions to take. This supports my argument 3 that says King exposed all the hatred in Chicago.
