GENDER WORDS
Gender words help us know if we are talking about a boy or a girl.

WHY WE USE "HE" AND "SHE"

Boys are called "he" and use "him" and "his" Girls are called "she" and use "her" and "hers"

We know that we are talking about a boy or girl when we use he or she.

EXAMPLES

She is wearing a pink dress. Her hair is in pigtails. The shoes are hers.

EXAMPLES

He has blonde hair.

His pants are blue. The wheelchair belongs to him.

GIRLS

Some other words for girls are woman, female, gal, girl, lady. We can show respect to girls by calling them Mrs., Ms., or Miss.

BOYS

Some other words for boys are man, male, guy, boy, gentleman.q We can show respect to boys by calling them Mr. or Sir.

REMEMBER!

If I use the wrong gender word, people can get upset. Boys use "he," "him," and "his"
