February 24, 2014

Dear Parents and Guardians of PHASD students, The Board of Education for the Port Huron Area School District is beginning a search for a new superintendent of schools. As a part of the executive search process, we are interested in obtaining input from a variety of school-related and community groups, including parent ideas and viewpoints about characteristics and competencies relevant to the position. It is our intent to widely recruit for this role and to use all possible suggestions for evaluating candidates. In order to gain input from our parents and our PTA/PTSA groups, an open forum meeting conducted by a Michigan Association of School Board's representative is scheduled for this Friday, February 28, at 5:00 p.m. in the Media Center at Port Huron High School. The MASB representative will provide an overview of the search process and receive input from parents and community members who are able to attend regarding the criteria to be used in evaluating candidates. Parents and guardians may also participate in the on-line community survey which is available on the district website (http://www.phasd.us). All responses are automatically sent to MASB in Lansing for tabulation and subsequent reporting to the board. All residents of the district are invited and urged to complete the input survey by March 10. Please help us spread the word about this important meeting. I hope you will be able to attend. Sincerely,

Jeffrey A. Stout, President Port Huron Area School District Board of Education sc
