Language Arts

Math Expressions
We have been continuing to learn how to add
double digit numbers together. There are three
ways that the children know how to do this, by
using the proof drawing method, the show all
totals method, and the new groups below
method. The new groups below method is
similar to how we learned in school, except we do
not call it borrowing, instead it is called
regrouping and the tally mark goes on the
equation line and not above the number. Thank
you for supporting your child at home! I know
that this math can be VERY tricky!

Reading Test for last weeks story Hedgehog

Bakes a Cake, and spelling test will be this
Monday November 14th. We will not have another
spelling or reading test till after Thanksgiving.
Have a great break.

Parent Teacher Conferences

We look forward to seeing each and every one
during Parent Teacher Conferences. Our goal is to
have 100% participation. If you have not done so
already, please turn in the blue conference note so
we know that you know when your time slot is.

Crull Comet Gathering

Next Friday we are going to have our second grade
students sing at our Crull Comet Family
Gathering. The second graders are going to be
singing one song together as a grade level. Parents
are more than welcome to attend our Crull Comet
Family Gathering to listen to their child sing! Just
make sure that you sign in in the office and put on
a visitors badge. Thank you!

Looking Ahead

School Items
We are now entering our third month of school,
and the time has flown by! Ask your student if
they need additional crayons or colored pencils to
refresh their school box. Cold and flu season is
almost upon us as well, and with that sneezes and
coughs! We are always looking for donations of
Kleenex and Clorox/bleach wipes to use in our
classroom. We go through these items like crazy,
especially during cold/flu season.
