Analyse the contents page from NME (Dizzee Rascal edition)

Title: This contains the NME masthead which is more like a brand today, it also follows the NME colour scheme and uses bold font like most NME titles, headers or subheadings. This is following the conventions for a music magazine to have its masthead on the contents page/ on every page. Bold font is also used to stand out to the reader. Band Index: is on left hand side linked to the genre, its telling the reader what bands are in this edition, it creates a bigger audience when fans of artists know they are in this edition. It also makes it easier for the reader to navigate to pages they want to read. NME will do this on every contents page. This is a developing convention of music magazine as more and more start to add this to their contents page.

Headers: This is a convention of music magazine as they break the information into sections making it easier for the reader to navigate through the magazine; it also highlights certain pages for the readers which are thought to be most popular. Another convention this contents page follows is the date line under the title.

Subscription advert: This advert is effective at attracting the readers eye line even though its in the dead space the bold yellow font breaks the colour scheme of the magazine and stand out more on the page because it is the only colour out of place. It makes the audience want to subscribe to the magazine; the bold font also makes it seem exciting like the readers are getting an amazing deal. This is a convention of music magazines as they want you to buy more and more issues so entice the audience with a deal The key image is a medium shot of a blonde woman standing next to a tour bus, this links back to the selling point and article underneath about touring.

Boxing: the middle box attracts the eye line first which is why this story is linked to the selling line of the magazine on the front cover saying 16 page autumn tour special, this box also has the key image out of only 3 on the page. It is a convention in music magazines to box or section off the information so it is easier for the audience to navigate through the pages. This is also made attractive by the box looking like an amp linking back to music.

Minimal white space: makes it more exciting to look at from the reader however the style is tidy which fits in with the front cover. This again links to conventions as not many magazines would want white space on their pages, it make the magazine seem fuller and more professional.
