EXPERIENCE

Fellow, Young People For People For the American Way (2013-14) Selected to participate in a national leadership development initiative that helps identify and empower young progressive leaders. Created and organized a Blueprint for Social Justice, a project that aims to create community dialogue regarding race and racism in liberal spaces. It will be shown in the Wriston Galleries at Lawrence University. Forum On Race; Lets Talk About Race: Are We a Divided Campus? (2013) Organized a campus-wide forum to discuss race relations at Lawrence University and to allow students to express their thoughts on the topic of marginalization on campus. Young Chicago Authors (2012 - 2013) Program Coordinator Intern (Fall), Outreach and Productions Intern (Summer) Organized and led students/teachers from Chicago schools to attend a creative writing festival at UW Whitewater. Helped facilitate programming including spoken-word workshops and weekly open-mics, (Fall, 2012). Led outreach initiatives to include Chicago youth in the international poetry slam Brave New Voices, (Summer, 2013) and additionally built relationships with organizations and individuals in various communities. ACM Chicago Program: Urban Studies (2012) Participated in an experiential learning program that included an independent study project, a course focusing on current issues and structures in Chicago, a seminar exploring human rights in Chicago, and the above internship. Teaching, English Program, Sa-nguan Ying School, Suphanburi, Thailand Taught English and Reading for grades 9-12. Held reading/pronunciation lessons with students in grades 3-8. (2011)
