SNOW WHITE & ROSE RED

ACT ONE
[A house] NARRATOR: Once upon a time, there was a poor widow who lived in a lonely house. In front of the house was a garden where two rose-trees stood, one of which bore white and the other red roses. She had two children who were like the two rose-trees, and one was called Snow White and the other Rose Red. They were very cheerful and happy like any other children. Snow White was a little bit shy while Rose Red was more outgoing. [Rose Red holds Snow Whites hand and walk to the center of the stage] SNOW WHITE: We will not leave each other. ROSE RED: Together forever. MOTHER (offstage): And what one have should be shared. Now, be careful out there. [Snow White and Rose Red waves to the offstage and walk to the other side of the stage]

NARRATOR: They always go to the forest to gather berries and flowers. No animal ever harmed them in anyway. Instead, they make friends with them. Their mother said that they were protected by angels who watch over good children.

ACT TWO [The house] NARRATOR: One cold evening, when they were sitting comfortably in their house, someone knocked the door. MOTHER: Rose Red, please open the door. That must be a traveller seeking for shelter. [Rose Red walks to the left of the stage and opens a door, Bear walks in. Rose Red screams out of surprise and Snow White ran to the other side of the stage] BEAR: Excuse me, do I look that scary? [Rose Red and Snow White stops screaming, still afraid of the black bear] BEAR: Im sorry if I scared you. I swear I would never hurt you. Its really cold out there so I just wanted to warm myself here, if you let me. MOTHER: Poor bear. Sit down then, would you? Snow White, Rose Red, come out. He would not harm you. [Snow White and Rose Red slowly walk closer to the bear, they look afraid at first and then slowly Snow White poked the back of the bear with a broomstick. The bear looked back and growled, but then start to laugh a little. Snow White and Rose Red look at each other and then laugh] NARRATOR: Since that day, the bear came to the house on every evening. The two girls became friends with the bear and they always played together. However, when winter ended, the bear stopped coming to their house. Snow White was sad that he never appear anymore after that. Their house was not as merry as before.

ACT THREE [In the forest]

NARRATOR: One day, Snow White and Rose Red were walking in the forest to get firewood. They found a big tree that has fallen to the ground. As they walked near it, they saw a gnome with very long beard. His beard was stuck under the tree. [Gnome trying to pull his beard off the tree and then glares at the two girls] GNOME: Hey, what are you looking at? Help me out here! ROSE RED: What are you doing there? GNOME: Are you dumb? Im stuck right here. Get my beard out from under this tree! SNOW WHITE: Lets help him, Rose. [The two of them try to pull Gnome away from the tree but fails. After three tries they stop] GNOME: There are two of you and still cannot pull one of me? How useless! SNOW WHITE: Dont be impatient! Here, let me do this. [Snow White pulls out a pair of scissors out of her bag and cut off the gnomes beard] GNOME: No, not the beard! What have you done?! Bad luck to both of you. [Gnome stands up and quickly run away] ROSE RED: How rude. He should at least say thanks. SNOW WHITE: Dont be mad, Rose. Now lets get what we came here for. [The two of them walk to the end of stage]

ACT FOUR [A cave] NARRATOR: On the way home, Snow White and Rose Red saw the gnome again and followed him into his cave to surprise him. [Gnome empties his bag and reveals a bunch of glittery gold and precious stones] [Snow White and Rose Red stood still in awe looking at the treasures. Gnome look behind of him] GNOME: Who goes there?! Well, well, well.if its not the two little brats. Perhaps taking away my beard is not enough? Now that you have seen this, Im afraid that you may never leave this place. [Gnome walks towards Snow White and Rose Red with an axe. Snow White and Rose Red slowly step back in fear. Bear quickly run into center stage with a loud growl] BEAR: GROWL! [Gnome drops his axe and shivering in fear] GNOME: Oh..mister Bearnice to meet you.err. Do you want these treasures? You can take them. Please dont eat me. Im too old and not tasty. Have those two instead [Ignoring the gnome, the bear strikes his paw onto the gnome to kill him. Gnome drops dead after the strike. Snow White and Rose Red are afraid and try to run away] BEAR: Wait, its me! [Snow White turns back and looks the bear] SNOW WHITE: I remember, youre the bear that came to our house during winter. ROSE RED: Did you come here to save us? BEAR: I do, but there is something else I want to show you. [The bear skin suddenly wears off revealing a handsome prince]

SNOW WHITE: Buthow did you turn into a man? PRINCE: I was a prince from nearby kingdom. One day I was on a journey here and this gnome stole my treasures and cursed me into a beast. Thankfully you cut off his beard. That causes his magic to weaken. If we have never met before, I might still be a bear. Therefore I want to show my gratitude to you. SNOW WHITE: Theres no need for that. PRINCE: No, this is something I must do. [Prince get down to his knees] PRINCE: Snow White, will you marry me? [Snow White show a surprised look and slowly nods with a smile] NARRATOR: In the end, Snow White got married to the prince and Rose Red to his brother. They lived happily ever after.
