CHAPTER 1 CLASSROOMS AT WORK At first, the book mentions about how a snapshot can captures the look, the

atmosphere, the learners mood, the teachers attitude, etc. Also , the author shows in detail at lots of examples about lesson ideas, activities, methods and techniques from different lessons in different locations. The main idea is about that teachers can use a method to approach and improve students to feel more dynamic and interactive during a class. On the other side, teaching does not equal learning. Teaching does not necessarily lead to learning. Learning demands you attention from the learner. The next section tell us about when a teacher use a lot of explanations result a little bored and not much beneficial for the students because they could get confuse. What students need is to talk themselves; they need to communicate with a variety of people. They need to get feedback on their performance. Learning involves five steps like doing something , recalling what happened, reflecting on that, drawing conclusions from the reflection and using those conclusions to inform and prepare for future practical experience. At the end, in order to create an effective learning environment, a teacher should have these characteristics: Respect Empathy Authenticity Furthermore, we can notice that there are different kinds of teacher: Explainer Involver Enabler It is important for the methodology students to know that every teacher has elements of Underhills three categories of teachers depending on the day, the class, the aims of a lesson, and the nature of the activities.
