| ‘Muharram is the first month of Hijrah calendar, so Muslims should celebrate the first of Muharram like other people celebrating the first day of their new year. It is very important for Muslim Ummah, Prophet Moses (a. s.) I, crossed over to Sinai desert on the 10" of Muharram and saved the children of Israel fom the persecution of Pharaoh and they have been observing fast on the 10" of Mubarram offering thanks to Almighty Allah. And before theinitiafioa of Ramadan, the Holy Prophet (PBLJH) used to observe fast on the’ 10 of Muharram. And for Muslims, Muharram is doubly iniportant that Almighty ‘Allah also saved Muslims from the persecution of Mecca Pagans. But sometime: after, a very important incidence took place in the history of Muslims that divided the Mustim Ummah forever. Muavia the governor of Syria, declared himself Caliph upon the shahadah of Usman, (r. a.) :) the 3 caliph and refused to offer allegiance to Ali (r, a.))- By this time Muslims in gerneral had forsaken the spirit of Islam, limiting themselves to performing few rituals and under such conditions Muavia managed to Kill Ali (r.a.) }. As he was approaching the end of his life, he appointed his son-Yazid as caliph. And of course, Hussain (a..) ) considering all this process illegal and against the tencts of Islam refused to offer loyalty and obedience to Yazid, an autocrat under the garb of caliph according to the guidance of Islam, Since then quite a large portion of Mustim Ummah have been ‘mourning, wailing and breast beating the shahadah of Flussain (a. s.) ) every Muharram showing love and affection to the grand son of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). In fact Muslim s should be proud that Hussain (a, s,) pelted is sacrify his iB€than . , offering obedience to Yazid. He set a tradition for Muslims to be proud of and followed for ever and NOT to sell themselves for selfish interests, greed and avarice. ie Instead of being proud of Hussain (a, s,) ); for the example of sacrifice set by him; people are mourning being grieved upon his sacrifice as he was grandson of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). What an irony? No body among Muslims is prepared to follow the footsteps of Hussain (PBUH) even though all sorts of evils are raising their Beads OURS eee ELE ’ s 2 Bie boc plage | The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said that therejis no lineage relationship +! for prophets, And at his demise his daughter Fatima (PBUH) came ‘over to Abu Bakr | (r, a.)) to claim her share of inheritance.
