MY NEW HOME!

Hi everyone! I am pleased to say that I have arrived to YWAM Montego Bay safe and soundly! Everyone has welcomed me warmly and I am already starting to build a family here. For the next two weeks I will be working as a mission builder, so I am joining with a group from Canada to help out in various orphanages and schools. I am also helping a family here on base, Nic and Ashley. They will become my seminar leaders once SOPA starts on April 7. They have 3 little boys, Judah (5), Maleeq (3) and Israel (9 months), that I will be watching and doing activities with. I have already become quite close with this family! The YWAM base is beautiful and quite large. it is on a hill side overlooking Montego Bay. There are many families who live here and groups from around the world visit My new room! I will be having frequently. The base is in a middle of a others join me in two weeks for the decent sized community who I will be able to work with, also. SOPA seminar. ! On April 7, there will be a group coming for the School of Performing Arts (SOPA) seminar. This is a two month seminar that will consist of learning cultural dances, songs, arts and customs. The other students who are coming are all Jamaican and there will be 6 of us altogether. Another SOPA group may be joining us, also, but it hasnt been confirmed. I am super excited to start this seminar and meet my group I will be working with. We are all passionate about the Lord and Jamaican culture. Please pray that I will be able to fit into the culture smoothly and that doors will be open to us! I will also start sending my newsletters on the 20th of every month! God Bless, Bet.

This was at a primary school where we were able to hand out new shoes to about 50 students. Right when we stepped out of the van the students all ran up to us and gave us hugs and were so excited! At this school we visited the kindergarden students. We went to two others schools, also, and were able to do the same with both elementary and junior high school students. The kids were so thankful to have new shoes and the teachers were very appreciative of us coming.

This picture was taken at the junior high school we visited. Not only were we able to hand out shoes, we were also allowed to do seminars in each class room. We did a game, song, lesson about Jesus and gave them a baggie with a sucker, eraser and tract in it. The kids were all very responsive and polite. Later this day we visited a childrens home also and got to play soccer and eat dinner with the kids there. I will be visiting this orphanage frequently and will hopefully be able to take some pictures soon! I am so thankful to God that we had this opportunity!
