skills?)

Check for Understanding

After reading the book, the class will be broken off into three groups depending on their learning styles (auditory, visual, kinesthetic). Each group will have a discussion about spiders and the new facts they learned.

Guided Practice

Each group will then create a presentation about spiders. The auditory learners will create a mock newscast about spiders. The newscast will include facts they learned about spiders from the book, interviews from their classmates, and information researched from an approved website. The visual learners will create an informational brochure about spiders and their habitats. The brochure will include prior knowledge, new information from the book, and information researched from an approved website. The kinesthetic learners will research a particular type of spider online. They will then create a paper version of the spider, and will write one fact about that particular spider on each of its legs.

Independent Practice

Each student will write a short journal entry about their project and what they learned about spiders.

Closure

Each group will present their project to the class.
