21st ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND CONFERENCE OF MAC

Bridgetown – Barbados, October 1st, 2009

Dear colleagues and friends,

On behalf of the Barbados National Committee of the International Council of Museums

(ICOM Barbados) and the Museums Association of the Caribbean (MAC), we extend a cordial
invitation to you to attend the 21st Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Museums
Association of the Caribbean (MAC) which takes place in Bridgetown, Barbados during November
30 -December 2nd 2009.

ICOM Barbados is pleased to host the meeting and conference in association with the
National Art Gallery Committee (NAGC), the International Curators Forum (ICF) and the
International Council of Museums (ICOM), on behalf of MAC.

The theme for this year’s conference will be ‘CARIBBEAN CURATORSHIP AND
NATIONAL IDENTITY’. Three symposia comprising an international panel and moderator will be
convened to be engaged by you to determine the direction needed in addressing relevant issues
facing museum and heritage professionals in the region. With your individual expertise and
experience, we can arrive at consensus for a plan of action.

As usual, the programme is packed, but with advance preparation much can be
accomplished. There will be time for other social activities including receptions and tours.

4. A registration form

The registration fee for the Conference is US $75. Advance payments should be made by
international money order, sent by air mail or courier (see attached Registration form). Hotel
bookings should be made directly (see attached list with details).
