Creating a visual that represents my principles and approach to designing learning experiences was truly enjoyable.

Visual art resonates with my way of learning and seeing the world. Having an opportunity to create an artistic piece was hardly work to me. As I was creating this visual, I thought about metaphors that reflect how I approach my work. I see my work very much as a road trip, which is why I used a map as the background. I see the learning experience as a journey that I embark on as a facilitator with the participants. This learning activity required that I deconstruct the components of my work into a tangible visual representation. To do this, I had to think through my facilitation process, what I do, how I do it and why. Being clear about my work helps me execute it more thoughtfully and with greater intention. I included this artifact because of its visual and artistic representation. It adds variety to the many written assignments included in my portfolio. This representation communicates that I understand what I do, and have a rational for my approach. It currently hangs in my office and serves as a reminder not to become complacent or haphazard. When I get behind the wheel of my vehicle, I take the responsibility seriously. I pay attention to the roads and signposts. I am conscientious of the safety and comfort of my passengers, to ensure we successfully arrive at the desired outcome. For me, driving an educational experience is no different.
