Discussion Socio-economic status has a sizeable impact on health status. Values reported for Doomadgee (S) are in some measures pointedly different from Queensland figures. The average weekly personal income was $280, compared to $587 for Queensland in 20113. This could be attributed to the large proportion of the Doomadgee workforce working in lower paying occupations3. Doomadgee (S) had a larger attendance in primary school (64.8%)3 compared to Queensland (29.7%)3. These values decreased into secondary school and further education (8.2% and 2.3%)3 primarily due to the lack of an educational institution past year 10, and the absence of a local university. Queensland had (20.2%) attending secondary school and (4.1%) attending tertiary education3. (113)
