Entry-Level Survey: Students will be completing a survey to assess the students prior knowledge of the principles of design and elements of art. Formative Graphic Organizer: The students will be making two graphic organizers. One graphic organizer will be dedicated to the principles of design and the other to the elements of art. In the graphic organizer the student must draw out an example of each principle and element. Quiz: The quiz will be a review of the terms they have learned and to assess if the students are grasping the material or not. Critical Thinking Response: The students will write short responses that engage critical thinking of how the terms they have learned can be applied to famous artworks. Not only will it challenge students to use the terms but it will give them an opportunity to analyze many artworks. Discussion: The teacher and the students will engage in a discussion that deals with their written response from the Critical Thinking Response step. During the discussion, the teacher and students will be able to ask questions and provide feedback. Summative Project: The students will create an original work of art that will incorporate all of the principles of design and elements of art. The objective of this project is for students to be able to effectively

use all of the principles of designs and elements of art to illustrate that they understand and can successfully use them. Essay: Students will write a short three to four paragraph essay about their artwork. They will discuss how they incorporated the principles of designs and elements of art, as well as the strongest and weakest points of their artwork.
