Mr Nice Guy

This is an establishing shot of a city setting. A city setting is typically thought to be a fast passed place- giving the audience a hint of what the film is to be like. There will always be action both day and night. Stereotypically living in the city it is populated by those who are in possession of a lot of money and it is a highly populated area full of multiculturalism. This gives the audience an idea as to the type of characters we are going to encounter throughout the story.

The camera pans down to a modern-styled barn conversion. This gives some confusing messages to the audience as there is a high contrast between the modern elements of the main building and the old-fashioned elements contained in the rest of the setting. !ndicating that both elements could play a key role in this.

The assumption that parts of it were slightly old fashioned will have slightly changed. This is because of the fact there is a hot tub in the vicinity. "owever it is surrounded by nature # indicating that the owner of the house is working hard to find a balance between $keeping up with the times% and caring for the environment.

The fact that the people around the woman in the hot tub are all men and are in suits comply with the backdated standing that men should be the ones that work and women should be at home. She does however not go along with the stereotype as there are no children and she is not working $within the women&s sphere%

This is an e'ample of not crossing the line and they are both at eye level to each other. !t can be regarded as an over the shoulder shot ."e is in a suit and tie- indicating that he works somewhere busy and important such as somewhere in the city. This contrasts with the location that they&re in.

This is an over the shoulder close up of the woman in the hot tub. (e can see that she is looking lovingly into his eyes. The line is not crossed here. The man having his hand around her neck shows the control that he has over her and contrasts with western society as women should be seen as e)ual to men.
