Kindergarten Connections

Reading: We are working in Unit 9 new words are he, she, has, look. Keep on flipping through the word rings and reading the mini-books. Even if your child knows them all, KEEP PRACTICING! We are building fluency and our brains need lots of practice! Science: Our studies of the human body and living things continues. Book It! Runs through March. I sent March pizza slips home. If you still have a Book It! slip to send to school please do it before the end of April. We will not be having Show and Tell in April. Watch for it to return in May. OUTSIDE CLOTHES!!! Please send BOOTS, SNOWPANTS, and hats and mittens along with coats until further notice. WE USE THEM EVERDAY TO KEEP OUR INSIDE CLOTHES AND SHOES CLEAN AND MUD-FREE! Thanks. CLASSROOM COLLECTION OF LIDS! We are working on building a collection of lids - milk, containers, toothpaste, laundry soap, etc. Please send what you can as you empty containers, but remember you wont get them back. We will be counting and sorting them. We are also collecting empty cereal boxes! Field Day and Awards Day have been scheduled for May 28. Awards at 11:00 and a picnic to follow for lunch and then Field Day. The only kindergarten award is perfect attendance. We dont receive awards for anything else. We do not compete in Field Day. It is possible we will try the tug of war against Mrs. Twetes class. We go out to watch for a while and then come back into the classroom. I wanted to share this info with you, so you didnt take time off and then discover that we are observers and not participators! Our Kindergarten Family Fun Finale (plays and songs in the auditorium) is scheduled for the afternoon of May 21. OUR 3 SNOW DAY MAKE-UP DAYS will be the week of Memorial Day. We have school Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday is a half-day for students. Cross your fingers we dont have April blizzards!

Poem of the Week: Rainy Day I do not like a rainy day. The road is wet, the sky is gray. They dress me up from head to toes. In lots and lots of rubber clothes. I wish the sun would come and stay. I do not like a rainy day.
