5th Edition
This Week In
Reading: This week we will work with all of our letters with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.
We will finish learning all the letters of the alphabet. Practice writing the letters we have learned
so far a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, I, j, k, l, m, n, o, p. q, r, s, t, and u. Also, ask your child what sound the
letter makes!
This Weeks Letters: V, W, X, Y, Z
Pathways Letter Focus: Ff. F is a squeezer sound, because the sound squeezes out of our lips,
between our top teeth and our bottom lip.
Sight Word for the Week: at & like
Sight Words we have learned: a, I, see, and, can, at, like
First Quarter Sight Words: a, I, see, the, and, like, at, to, in, can (test will be at the end of the
quarter)
A Fun Idea for Practicing Sight Words: Playdough! Help your child form the letters of the sight
words using playdough. Have them read the sight word when it is created.
Math:
This week we will begin to learn about numbers. We will learn about counting and creating
numbers. We will also learn the meaning of 0.
Writing:
Our kiddos have been creating AMAZING settings this week! We will continue to work on our
pictures and using lots of details in our pictures, but this week we will begin writing simple
sentences!! We will write sentences together at the beginning of the week using I see a. We
will begin stretching and writing words on our own at the end of the week! What an exciting time
for your child and his or her reading and writing journey!!
At this point, your child should be able to recognize every letter capital and lowercase and should be able to read
all of our sight words learned so far. If you notice your child does not have these skills mastered, please work on
this at home. We are now using these letters to stretch words, and the words to write sentences,, and writing will be
harder for your child if they do not have these skills mastered. Thank you for working with your child at home!
