Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact Rationale/Reflection NAEYC Standard:

STANDARD 6. BECOMING A PROFESSIONAL Candidates prepared in early childhood degree programs identify and conduct themselves as members of the early childhood profession. They know and use ethical guidelines and other professional standards related to early childhood practice. They are continuous, collaborative learners who demonstrate knowledgeable, reflective and critical perspectives on their work, making informed decisions that integrate knowledge from a variety of sources. They are informed advocates for sound educational practices and policies.

Brief Description of Evidence:


Through much hard work and dedication, I completed a Technical Certificate in December 2013. This certificate comes from completing a minimum of 30 credit hours in general education as well as the Early Childhood field.

Analysis of What I Learned:


Throughout the time that I spent completing the many courses to earn this certificate, I not only gained knowledge but I also learned how to be a professional at what I do. I learned how to work with others in a work environment, and also how to present myself as a professional in the early childhood field.

How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the NAEYC Standard:


This artifact demonstrates my competence in standard 6, Becoming a Professional, by showing that I am able to complete the required courses to obtain my Technical Certificate. Also while in the process of doing this I am able to learn and grow on how to become a professional. This certificate also shows that I am involved with advocating for young children. I continue my learning about young children and I am always up to learn new things to better myself as a professional.
