Grove Park Inn History Completed in 1913, the Grove Park Inn presides over a scenic vista in Asheville, North Carolina. E. W. Grove constructed the resort as a haven in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Grove Park Inn enjoyed the patronage of the most glamorous guests in the country through the stock market crash of 1020 and the Great Depression. After numerous owners struggled to keep the Grove Park Inns traditions alive in the 1930s and 1040s, the current owners purchased the property in 1955 and made many improvements. Arts and Crafts Styling The Grove Park Inn stands as one of the largest and finest examples of Arts & Crafts style architecture in the United States. Because the hotel is listed on the national Register of historic Places, all restoration work has been carried out with meticulous attention to the tradition of the Arts & Crafts style. Famous Visitors Celebrities visiting the Asheville area regularly stay at the Grove Park Inn today. Photos of hundreds of powerful and famous guests line the central hallways. Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, members of the Rockefeller family, and eight presidents stayed at the Grove Park Inn. If you go to the hotel today, you can stay in a room the F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda used for multiple summers.
