Gravity

By Jordan

I claim that gravity effects the orbit of a planet. Such as, when my class was doing the "My Solar system" simulation on PhET. When I increased the mass of the sun, the planet got engulfed by the sun. What happened was gravity at work. Gravity is a force that attracts objects. If gravity disappeared every planet would just Orbits of multiple float away. We need gravity to survive. When I planetary systems lowered the mass of the sun, the planet flew away. There wasn't enough gravity to keep the planet in orbit. When there is an orbit, you need the mass of the star to be greater than or equal to the mass of the planet. In conclusion, gravity effects the orbit of a planet. I claim there is gravity even though I cannot directly SEE it with my eyes. This comes to show that gravity is a force that you cannot directly see, but you know it effects everything in the universe. On PhET we had to use the orbit of a planet with a moon, orbiting the sun. You could not directly see it, but you could obviously see the planet orbit around the sun. To conclude, gravity is there, even though I can't directly SEE it with my eyes. I claim that gravity changes based on the size of the planets you are looking at. For example, on PhET I changed
Orbit of the Earth and moon going around the sun

the mass of the planet to 10 and it had a tighter orbit. If the planet was smaller, the orbit would be wider. Other examples of gravity changing are comets. One comet flew so close
The Kepler planetary system

to the sun that it was engulfed. Therefore, gravity changes based on the size of the planets you are looking at.
